On TIME Magazine’s website, a spoof Disney movie featuring Sarah Palin has emerged (http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1854557_1854530,00.html). It depicts the selection of Sarah Palin by John McCain, and her future work as President of the United States when President McCain dies. Beyond it’s hilarity, we see the angst most Americans feel toward Palin. The commercial emerged from a Matt Damon quote: “It’s like a really bad Disney movie. The hockey mom from Alaska… is the president. She’s facing down Vladimir Putin using the folksy stuff she learned at the hockey rink. It’s absurd.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anxkrm9uEJk
I’m sure many Americans are relieved to find out that they will not have to obsess and worry over a possible presidential future for Palin (at least not until 2012). Whether Palin affected McCain’s campaign is a hot topic at the moment – many are blaming Palin for the failed presidential bid. But the truth is, votes were cast more for Obama and against Bush. Much like the 1920 election featuring Warren G. Harding’s win as the people voted against the Wilson administration, virtually no one has been happy with the Bush administration and they are ready for a change. Kudos to the Obama campaign for picking up on the keyword of the 2008 election (and actually being able to sell it).
