Surfing the Web

My travels took me to the Gale Cengage Learning site, today. They have a collection of wallpapers and bookmarks celebrating women’s history available for download. You can find them here.

I think that this month would be an appropriate time to look at a woman who has made recent headlines. Aung San Suu Kyi, the democratically elected leader of Burma (Myanmar). Here is her biography.

For the Youtube crowd, check out this video:

The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History hosts podcasts by prominent historians and links to many excellent sources. This month they're featuring Catherine Clinton's new biography of Harriet Tubman, and their electronic newsletter, History Now, features materials about the fight for women's suffrage. Check it out!

Women's History Month

March is women's history month!

This month, we honor the contributions that women have made to our lives throughout history.

Check out the National Women's History Project's website for answers to the question, "Why women's history?" Their theme this year is women in the arts.
