Obama and Race

If you haven't read or listened to Barack Obama's Philadelphia speech on race, you should - no matter who you plan to vote for. I find it a fascinating document with many historical arguments about race in America.

I was curious about people's opinions regarding how this speech compares to Martin Luther King's speeches. I thought I heard one of the talking heads compare the two. I admit I was only half-listening to the talking head...

I really enjoyed the speech and I appreciated the fact that Obama grounded today's problems in the history of the country. In fact, I turned to my dog (yes, dog) and said, by golly! He sounds like a historian!
