The Weird World of Seventies Britain

http://podcasts.ox.ac.uk/weird-world-seventies-britain-audio

This is an audio podcast from the University of Oxford by Dominic Sandbook, a writer on recent British and American history.

What caught my attention right away with this podcast was Sandbrook's very descriptive telling of what it was like in the seventies in Britain. He starts out by telling the audience to imagine they have gone back in time to November 14, 1973, then he goes on to describe what you would see and what is happening on that day. At first, it sounds like a good day with it being a national holiday, and the royal wedding of Princess Ann  about to happen. After that, however, he goes over some of the more bleak aspects of the times.

Sandbrooks concludes by explaining that, even though the seventies might seem dark, and bleak to those of us from the current times, they were in fact a time of great change and growth for Britain.
