Many pro-gun Americans are becoming increasingly angry with Barack Obama and his intent to ban guns because it violates the second amendment. The second amendment states that a well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. The National Rifle Association believes if Obama is elected as president, every American could no longer have the right to bear arms. The NRA said, even though Obama himself has repeatedly denied any intention of violating the second amendment, he voted to allow reckless lawsuits designed to bankrupt the firearms industry. Obama said, “I am a strong believer of the Second Amendment.” However, he has also said he categorically opposes the right to carry firearms for self defense and believes in prosecuting people who use a handgun in their own home for self defense. This means that if an intruder enters someone’s home, the homeowner would not be allowed to defend themselves. Pro-gun supporters consider this to be unacceptable.
Union veterans Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate formed the National Rifle Association in 1871 because of the lack of marksmanship shown by their troops. They wanted the primary goal of the association to be to "promote and encourage rifle shooting on a scientific basis," according to a magazine editorial written by Church. After they were granted a charter by the state of New York, the National Rifle Association was founded and immediately developed a practice ground. The NRA has, since it was founded, been the premier firearms education organization in the world. However, they believe that their successes would not be possible without the tireless efforts and countless hours of service that their three million members have given to fight for Second Amendment rights and for the support of the NRA programs.
The National Rifle Association is doing all that they can to inform Americans about what they believe Obama’s intentions are if he becomes president. Their slogan is; Defend Freedom, Defeat Obama. They are also promoting John McCain and Sarah Palin for President and Vice President because they believe Obama would be the most anti-gun president in American history if he wins the election. The National Rifle Association believes they cannot let Obama win; therefore, they have broadcasted Obama’s beliefs on gun policies throughout their magazine and website. They have also told Americans, “Don’t be fooled, Barack Obama violates the second amendment so don’t be fooled by his lies. If Obama wins, you lose.”
