So this week I looked in every database I knew and found
nothing that I could write about. Finally I emailed Jeff and he gave me a list
of databases I could look for peer reviewed journals and after refining my
search I finally found an article on “The
Administration of Indian Affairs in Utah” 1851-1858 by Dale L. Morgan. Though he makes no mention of Walker War it is
still a good source to see what the relationship between the Indians and the
Mormons was like before and after Walker War. The article is mainly about the non-Mormons
in the Indian Affairs Agency. The author makes it seem that they could not act because
the state was controlled by the LDS Church The author seems to have a bit of a
basis against the Mormons and seems critical about the way they ran the state. It
was interesting to read an outsiders view on the matter even if it was a little
basis. Even though Walker War isn’t mentioned I still found it helpful in
trying to understand what was going on at that time with the Mormons and
Indians. It was helpful in seeing how the Indian Affairs were being treated and what the state was trying to do even if it failed in doing so.
