For this weeks post I searched every database for a peer reviewed journal and had a lot of difficulty finding one pertaining to the Walker War. I decided to use a book that I had rented previously called World of Wakara by Conway Naylor. Although the book was published in 1963 it does have some relevant information to our topic. Because the book is a bit dated much of the story has an extreme western bias which is pretty entertaining but it does make it difficult to determine fact from opinion. The book is also written with a large amount of detail pertaining to specific battles and events that seem a bit far fetch from reading strictly the cited journals. However there was a large quantity of great explanations of areas and dates that specific battles occurred during the war. There was also an increadbily interesting block quote taken from a letter from Brigham Young to Walkara during the war and then a letter to the Mormon people sent by Young directly following. The letter to Walkara was addressed as if Young was his father or friend offering peace but the letter to his people said that they needed to prepare themselves with defense and troops. Overall this book is not necessarily a very trustable source based on the opinionated tone and big assumptions but the sources that Naylor cites provide a unique way to easily find journals pertaining to the topic.
