The United States of America started out with innovation and growth in mind. The colonists struggled to get ahead and were, for the most part, willing to work hard, and at times shed blood for that opportunity of freedom. We developed into a country that strived for growth, production, and innovation. Many risks were taken in order to accomplish a title, super power of the world. Americans were confident in their country, even at a time such as the 1930’s great depression when many were engulfed in a crisis that ripped them from their homes giving them no other choice than to live a homeless life. There was still a sense of hope that our country would redeem itself through innovation and honest hard work.
Our current United States government is much different. The way of life has made a drastic shift from innovation and progress towards a way of mass consumption resulting in an outstanding amount of debt, which is becoming a way of life for many Americans. China has tremendous scientific and technological potential and this is a result of meticulous planning through schooling and preparing their nation for a future of continued growth and innovation.
America has to make a change from this new consumption mentality. There needs to be a desire to make America the strong devoted nation it used to be during hard times such as the Great Depression of the 1930’s. This article talks about the steps we as Americans should take to accomplish this. In order to bring the American spirit and way of life we used to have, everyone needs to be on board and strive for excellence.
